SpeciNate is run by SpeciNate Conservation LLC. On this page, “I,” “me,” and “my” mean SpeciNate Conservation LLC.
Who can use SpeciNate
Anyone can give as a guest. No account needed. Steward teams make an account to run their campfire. Keep your password safe. You are responsible for everything done on your account.
Gifts and payments
Stripe handles every payment safely. A 10% SpeciNate fee is added on top of each gift, so your whole gift goes to the team and animals. Your gift goes to the team's own Stripe account. It waits there until the need is full. Then Stripe sends it to the team's bank. If the campfire closes first, I send your gift back. Each need has 60 days to fill. If it is not full by then, I send back your gift and the SpeciNate fee. Stripe keeps its own card cost. Every team is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so your gift is tax-deductible. The SpeciNate fee is not. The fee pays for tracking and real proof that your gift is in hand or in use. It also keeps SpeciNate running. SpeciNate pays Stripe's costs out of that fee. You can ask for your money back within 2 days of giving. I send back your gift and the SpeciNate fee. Stripe keeps its own card cost, and I can't get that back.
Your gift stays with its need
A gift to a need is restricted to that need. A steward can't move it to another need or spend it on something else. If a need is taken down before it's done, its backers get their money back. If a steward misses the 21-day proof deadline, backers get their money back too, and the steward owes back the SpeciNate fee on that gift, plus the gift itself if it was already paid out to them. New gifts stay off until it is paid. Stewards who misuse a gift lose their steward status.
Checked stewards
Every steward team must meet my standards to join SpeciNate. If a team stops meeting them, I can and will remove it. Your gifts only go to teams I have checked.
Steward add-ons
Add-ons like Campfire Coach are billed each month. Cancel any time from Billing. It keeps working until the end of the month you paid for. I don't refund that month.
Your content
You own what you post. By posting on SpeciNate, you give SpeciNate a license to show and use it to run the site. All SpeciNate content is protected by copyright.
What's not allowed
Don't use SpeciNate to break the law, bully or trick people, lie about who you are, or harm wildlife. If you do, I will close your account.
What I can't guarantee
SpeciNate is provided as-is. I am not responsible for what wildlife teams choose to do or how their projects turn out. I work hard to check every steward, but I can't control what happens in the field.
